We love the products, but we also love the people – meet Kelly, founder of Cravings Bakery. We’ve asked Kelly a few questions to understand Cravings Bakery better…

Hi Kelly, tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Kelly Jeffery, local resident of Sun Valley. I am a trained pastry chef and founder of Cravings Bakery. In 2010 I was diagnosed with PCOS and I really struggled to find suitable choices to supplement my own medical and health demands and so the Cravings idea was launched. I developed my first product out of my final year of study and soon launched a range of rusks and cookies in local shops around the area. Early on it became really clear that there was a need for tasty nutritional treats irrespective of food preferences or diet sensitivities. Cravings has grown as my health journey has progressed.
With a foundation of ongoing research, commitment to implementing clean and sustainable products and a dedicated team, the kitchen is now certified allergy free zone and the products are free of all of the top 8 common allergens.
What do you sell?
We produce a dry goods bakery line that consists of cookies and granola. We also have a Deli line – this is where I get to experiment a bit and have some fun. The Deli range consists of brownies, cakes and many delicious chocolate treats. We are proud to say that ALL our products are gluten free, nut free, vegan, soy free, preservative free, palm oil free, sweetened with organic coconut sugar and sustainably sourced.
Why did you start?
I grew up in a family of foodies and I have played with recipes and original ideas since childhood. I naturally progressed into professional Patisserie training. But it was only when I was diagnosed with PCOS, that it became apparent that diet plays a massive role in managing auto immune and hormonal issues I wanted to make that easier (and tastier) for people like me who were really struggling to find alternatives. As the business has grown and my range has expanded, my focus has always been to provide products that are as “clean” as possible, as close to natures as possible and ethically sourced. This is an abiding passion, and I am always learning and developing.

When I founded Cravings in 2013 I never really imagined that my products would do as well as they have and I think the reason for that is firstly, support from an amazing community. And number two, the fact that I have stuck to what I set out to achieve, which is to provide a handmade, high quality, allergy friendly product. I feel that my customers can see that and taste that in each and every product that leaves the Cravings kitchen. The product range has expanded and is now accessible to an even wider market. As much as the products are allergen free and ethically sourced, food is meant to be enjoyed and to make life just a little tastier. Each creation is lovingly handmade to satisfy your body, mind and – most of all – your CRAVINGS.
What’s this about a Christmas range?
Our Christmas range is incredibly exciting; it is my twist on seasonal classics for everyone to enjoy. It consists of the very famous Christmas Cake (sans alcohol), fruity Christmas brownies and the Cravings take on a fruit mince pie.
